Divorce Mediation
A Smarter, Calmer Way to Resolve Divorce Without the Courtroom Battle
At Illinois Mediation Clinic, we help divorcing spouses resolve their legal, financial, and parenting issues in a private, structured, and respectful environment. Whether you are navigating a contested divorce, seeking an amicable settlement, or simply want to avoid the emotional and financial cost of litigation, mediation offers a more dignified path forward.
Our mediators serve as neutral facilitators — not advocates for either party to guide productive conversations and help both spouses find workable, lasting solutions tailored to their family’s needs.
What Is Divorce Mediation?
Divorce mediation is a voluntary or court-referred process that empowers couples to resolve disputes with the assistance of a trained, neutral mediator. Unlike court proceedings, mediation is private, confidential, and focused on finding common ground rather than assigning blame. Divorce mediation is often faster, less expensive, and more emotionally constructive than adversarial court proceedings.
Mediation is especially beneficial when:

-
Child support and related financial obligations
-
Spousal maintenance (alimony)
-
Division of marital assets and debts
-
Retirement account division and real estate matters

Do We Need to Have Attorneys?
Mediation can be conducted with or without attorneys present. Some clients choose to consult their attorneys between sessions or have legal counsel review the final agreement before filing with the court. Others choose to participate without legal representation and rely solely on the mediator's guidance through the process.
At Illinois Mediation Clinic, we respect your preferences and can tailor the process accordingly. Our role remains neutral throughout.
Flexible Mediation Options to Fit Your Life
We offer several formats to make the mediation process as convenient and accessible as possible:

In-Person Mediation
Available at our main office in Shelbyville or our satellite office in Champaign, Illinois.

Virtual Mediation
Conducted via Zoom, allowing both parties to participate from any location with privacy and comfort.

Travel-Based Mediation
Available for clients who prefer to meet in a neutral setting such as a courthouse, attorney’s office, or rented conference space. Travel fees may apply and are discussed in advance.
Mediation Pricing
Our divorce mediation services start at $600 for initial 3 hour session, with the total cost depending on the complexity and scope of the issues involved. Some matters can be resolved in a single session, while others may require multiple meetings. Transparent pricing and time expectations will be provided after the intake process.
We believe in cost-effective solutions that provide real value. In most cases, mediation is significantly more affordable than traditional litigation.
